Angela Wiens is the friend you can call up in a pinch to get anything done. “I’m the friend you can call when you need to grout tile before your mother in law arrives for a visit this weekend, and I’ll learn how to grout so I can help you get it finished.”
When it came time to add an Account Coordinator to the team, we knew we’d need a person just like that – someone with a can-do attitude that could tackle any problem and turn around any deliverable our account team might throw at her. And since she started in September, they’ve done just that. When we asked her what are the top two skills you need to be successful in her role, the answer was easy. “Multitasking and flexibility. The scope or direction of projects can change midway through, and you have to be able to adjust on the fly.”
Angela comes to us with a varied background that includes the Wellness department at Mount Royal and a personally owned photography business, and before that, she was an interior designer specializing in space planning and millwork. Together with her husband, she has three children, and they’re well on their way to being a full band. Angela has played the piano since Grade 2, her husband and son play the guitar, and her two daughters’ combined skills include saxophone, piano and singing. “We just need a bass player and a drummer,” she says.
Angela’s organizational skills extend beyond just the ways she supports the account team. She also took office kitchen duty, a rotating task at WS, to the next level, spoiling us all with a simmering pot of apple cider, and spreads that included fresh vegetables and hummus. We were surprised to learn that she doesn’t like breakfast food, preferring to eat dinner leftovers, or soup.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find her taking Irish dancing lessons (but don’t call her an Irish dancer, she says. She’s just a person taking dancing lessons who started in adulthood!) or catching episodes of true crime TV or podcasts. “Forensic Files is one of my favourites, but I’ll watch or read anything in the genre.”
We’re excited to have Angela on the team!
